Story 114

In continuation of Story 113. The Story begins here
The smile warmed his heart, but he did not read too much into it. He knew it was a smile of relief, because she had managed to get back home in time; it also had a touch of awkwardness, because of the circumstances in which they had met, the time they had spent in his house. Last but not the least – it was a smile that said thank you. He never knew a simple smile could mean so many things at once and mean nothing at all. One moment, there she was, smiling at him and the next moment she closed the door and was gone.

She had been avoiding it for a long time; but now she wanted to make sure her doubts were right. She knew if she confronted her husband he would take her on a guilt trip.
She finished taking shower and walked out of the bathroom. She had to admit, it helped. Her husband was making vegetable pulao when she walked to the kitchen.
He kissed her on the forehead and asked how she felt. She told him she felt better already and would not mind taking over making lunch. He insisted that she took rest, therefore she went back to the bedroom and rested. She fell asleep.

She was awakened by the soft touch of her husband who was stroking her hair. Lunch is ready he told her and they both walked out. They finished their lunch in silence and he did the post-lunch cleaning while she watched him. A part of her wanted to enjoy the attention while the other part was desperately waiting for him to walk out of the house. She knew he would.

She felt the warmth of the morning sun on her cheek. She stirred awake and opened her eyes. His face was so close to hers; he was sleeping on his back while she was facing him, her hair stuck to his cheek.
She took a deep breath and smelled his shampoo. She was tempted to run her fingers over his cheek.
She had not meant to fall asleep in his bed. Her neck was stiff, and her shoulder ached because of the awkward position she had slept in.

She tried to get up without waking him up. Her Pallu had come off her shoulder and was stuck between the two of them, his arm resting over it. She tugged at the Pallu trying to pull it from under his arm. He stirred in his sleep and she froze. She did not want him to know she had slept in his bed. Of course, she was assuming that he had not woken up in the middle of the night and had not already seen her.

She did not want him to see her like this, so close to him.

They did not have sex that evening; they lay semi-naked in bed facing each other. It had been a long time since he had been so close to a woman, and the first time he was close without having sex. She ran her fingers over his cheek and kissed him on the mouth. He closed his eyes, he wanted to cherish every moment.

He told her how he had fallen in love with her when he had seen her for the first time. And, he knew it was not the addiction – what he felt for her was different. He told her how he had convinced himself that she was out of his league and he had never imagined that a day would come when he would be so close to her.

“Tell me about it!” her friend exclaimed; her eyes set on a guy talking to another girl in the parking space of the school.
